This is the 180 degree panoramic view from
PRESBY HOUSE HOLIDAY COTTAGE, CLIFF ST, WHITBY
The house is laid out to accomodate a family of 6 and there's also a travel cot. There's plenty of space, young children's books and games plus freesat sky tv making it particularily suitable for young familes. It was extensively modernised and decorated in 2006. 2008 is the first season it has been generally available for hire.
Sorry, but owing to the number of young people who use the house, we cannot accomodate smokers or pets.

Cliff Street is a narrow little one-way road leading from Flowergate up towards The "Whalebones" and Captain Cook's statue.
It's very convenient for everything.
- Harbourside - 2 mins walk down the passageways.
- Sand beach and pier - 5 mins walk along harbour edge (see 1 on map)
- Convenience Shops - 2 mins walk along Cliff St towards Flowergate. Somerfields supermarket is excellent and means you don't need to bring ANY food with you. Woolworths has just about everything else. (see 2 on map) Further on is Baxtergate which has banks and usual high street shops.

THE SUN May 11th 2006 |
The Abbey via the 199 steps takes about 20 mins, see 6 on map.
- Amazing shops - antiques up on Skinner St (2 mins) or Gothic stuff on Church St and Sandgate (10 mins over the bridge, see 3 on map)
- Museums include the Captain Cook Museum (see 8 on map), Pannet Park Museum (see 9 on map)and the excellent "Whitby Wizard" where kids can play with scientific experiments (see 4 on map)
- Slatebed beach - beneath the abbey cliff (20 mins, see 7 on map), superb for finding fossils at low tide!
- Pubs/Cafes - everywhere (good family pubs with superb harbour views are The Duke of York and The Board, see 5 on map. Excellent Indian and Chinese restaurant/take aways by the station.
- Fish and Chips! Our favourite is also the closest on Silver St (see F on map)
- Railway/bus station 10 mins. (The bus takes about 2 hours direct from York. Trains take hours to get anywhere, but quite often you'll be pulled by a steam engine!)
As well as the town attractions, there are lots of other beaches and harbours within a short drive or bus ride. These include Robin Hood's Bay, Runswick Bay, Sandsend, and Staithes. The edge of the North York Moors National Park is visible from the top floor, regular steam trains run from the station and Flamingoland Theme Park is 26 miles away.

AVAILABLE DATES
For dates and all other details please look at Holiday Cottages in Whitby
Like most houses in Whitby there's no parking in the street, but unlike some houses in Whitby, at least there is a street.
Click here for print friendly directions
PARKING: Pull up to the side of the street and dump all your stuff in the house, then drive on up to the West Cliff area. There is a mix of free street parking and meter parking. If you have to use a meter, it's worth going back early evening and seeing if there's a free place to move the car to. Whitby has so much to offer that most people don't use the car again until the day comes to go home!
